Summary

Understanding Self-Harm Through Personal Meaning-Making

This study examined how individuals’ beliefs about their own self-harm relate to coping and help-seeking. Analysis of survey data from 113 participants found that perceptions of understanding, control, consequences, and persistence were associated with meaningful differences in coping strategies and attitudes towards support. The findings highlight the importance of personal meaning-making in self-harm research and practice.
